The yen dropped to a nearly three-month low against the dollar and a two-week low against the euro on Tuesday, as rising bond yields in the US and Europe caught the attention of Japanese investors. Asian stocks traded unevenly across the region on Tuesday as investors worried about China Evergrande Group's debt crisis and growing power shortages in China. In the Asian time zone, the price of Brent crude reached $ 80 a barrel for the first time in three years, due to reopening of the regional economy after the pandemic and supply problems.
The yield on two-year Treasury bonds rose to an 18-month high, while German 10-year bond yields climbed to their highest rate since early July: minus 0.191% from the low of minus 0.340% last week. In Hong Kong, bitcoin traded around $ 42,600 as of 12:00 PM on Tuesday, roughly the same level as on Friday when the People's Bank of China announced its latest move to contain cryptocurrencies.
The price of Brent crude is $ 78.83 per barrel, WTI — $ 75.48. EUR/USD is at 1.1679, GBP/USD —1.3671, gold is at $ 1,741.58 per ounce.
